Dubbo Girls Academy alumni Jaime on course to become a teacher
2018 Dubbo Senior College Girls Academy graduate Jaime Pascoe caught up with Post School Options Officer, Kerryanne Henry, recently at Orana Heights Primary School where Jaime works as a Student Learning Support Officer.
Jaime is working at the school this year and next year she will start her degree next year in primary school education.
Jaime works in one of the kindy rooms and helps students stay focussed and complete their work. She loves her busy job and has a natural way with the children. It’s great preparation for her future career as a teacher.
Jaime said the best things about being in the Girls Academy were the extra opportunities she got to take, such as attending the UNSW Winter School, and having a supportive place to go at recess and lunch.
The Girls Academy is Australia’s leading in-school mentoring program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and has a strong focus on planning for study and careers after high school.
